man i love my bike, but i have to tell you, after all these new gixxer owners thinking they are the hottest thing since sliced bread, i can't wait for the 06 to come out and pawn! Just curious what would make you guys buy the new bike. I will be buying one only if it looks considerably different, ( the 04 -05s are still the best looking) and there has to be a considerable amount more power (better curve) than this model. this is not a predictions thread, just wanted your 2 cents about what would make you buy it.

I am thinking about an 06... but I am going to see when the time comes. I doubt that they are going to change the way the bike looks till 07 but then again I can be wrong...

Only reason I own an '04 is because I came across a very good deal on it! If it wasn't for that, I'd still be riding my '03 R6. THere's a lot of gradification in whoopin up up on literbikes at the track! Of course there's a lot of fun riding a literbike also! But, just when you think your bad, some a$$hole on an old FZR 400 comes flyin by! lol It's all rider guys!

One of the best riders on a road I like in So MO is on a old ass CBR 600 F2... like a 91 or something. The bike is super clean, but old..

You could go down ther with a GP bike and he'd still whip your ass...

But, some have something to prove/brag on, and they gotta have the best.

So far, my 2003 is all I ever wanted in a sport bike

I like my 04 and i think its a great bike overall but for 06 i would'nt mind a slipper clutch, less weight and up few ponies. I think 04-05 are the best looking bikes on the road. My buddy just bought a new gixxer and we'll find out who can pick up more chicks on biketoberfest gixxer or R1 R1 with out a doudt..

The 05 R1 and 05 G1k are so equally matched that it seems silly to me to buy a new 06 R1 just to have the hotter bike. As already stated, there are plenty of people out there who can take a 90's model 600 and put a coat of wax down on 98% of the G1k riders on the road. Bottom line, concentrate on your riding ability to make you fast, not the new hot bike.

Fastest guy I know rides both an 04 R1 & ninja 250. With out a dought he can beat most other riders on that 250. So its definitely about the rider. of course he doesn't care to much what the bikes look like because they are all race bikes to him. When I ride with him I just let him go, cause he'll stop and let me catch up.

I been bad. A guy I know picked up the new 05 gsxr 1000. Oh lordy let me tell you. The bike is light as hell! I have never looked up the specs online but hot damn I wanted it really bad. The stock can is ugly but who cares, I know it can haul some serious butt.

Okay so I took a quick spin yesterday on another friends 04' gsxr 750. I didnt like it and was brought back to my "YAMAHA RULEZ!" senses. :thumbup

Oh yeah um I'd get the 06' R1 if I had a good vibe with it. Its definately gotta be different than the 05' though.

My next bike will be either a 2005/6 GSXR1000, 2006 Kawasaki ZX10R, or 2006 Yamaha R1.

Right now I would prefer the GSXR but I will wait untill the 06 models are released to finalize my decision.

I plan on buying in Jan-March of 06... :thumbup :sneaky

Man, great point I totally agree! :yesnod There is no difference between any of the literbikes until you ride it at 90% or more of its performance limit, which most people will not do! So why spend $10+ Gs on an ugly bike? Most of the gixxer k5 owners that I've ran across bought the bike for bragin rights. I asked em what's there to brag about? Mat Mladin's winning all the races not you! :lol

I'll be keeping my 04 unless the new one is super sweet and I get the deal of a lifetime on it.

i totally agree with you guys about how its all about the rider, but no one here feels even a little threatened by that new gix? obviously there is always someone with more hp than you ( ie a busa in my group puts out 571), but i just want to have something those gixxer guys pay attention to and want them to feel threatened. Also, i just want something different from all the other shift red r1s i ride with, yet i dont want to invest more money in a bike thats gonna be old news soon.

I'll wait and see what the '06 is all about--then make my decision. I've had my '04 for 10 months (4 months of winter) and put 12,800 miles on it so far without any problems.

If the '06 comes with a slipper clutch, the VERY first thing I'd do is replace it, or modify it to conventional. NO SLIPPER CLUTCH FOR ME!!!

Dude are you sick??? You have one sweet ride,I cannot belive you want to trade up for an 06.Greg told me you were thinkin bout getting a Duck 999.I would laugh when I come up to see you and greg;s spankin you with my old R1.If you want the most powerful bike on the planet,Buy a BUSA......thats what I did and could not be happier.

lol dan. yeah dude im throwing around some different ideas right now. just dont wanna be like everyone else on the road. and no, im pretty sure i could push a shopping cart faster than greg rides the R1. he is such and old man! so uptight, but i guess thats better than being a squid. when do i get to see the new busa?

Hard to say. I might be extremely tempted to replace mine if the 06 R1 comes up with a total new scheme. However, given the fact that R6 hasn't undergone much upgrade for a quite sometime now and because of that R6 has lost some customers past couple of years. If I were YAMAHA, I would change R6 first. It's been long overdue. I humbly think R1 would not change much contrary to my hope. I think current R1 still sells a lot. I think Yami has some more time to release a new R1. I really hope Yamaha prove me wrong cuz I wanna see an awesome R1 that tops current 1.
