Took a few pics yesterday after we got the day off from sandbagging;
These shots are looking South across the banks of "Ditch 27". This ditch sends water through the city east towards the red river. The red was at 41 feet so this water couldn't flow into it and it backed it up. This ditch normally has about a foot of water at the very bottom. I'd say it's about 35 feet full right now.
My house is behind me in this picture. This picture faces south and you can see how much trouble the other side was going to be in without the sandbags. I'd say about 700 people helped sandbag that entire side the last few days. We were up until about 3 a.m. sandbagging each day.
On my side(north side), they brought army sand barriors in to hold back the water. These barriors literally saved my house.
Keep in mind these pictures only show about 3 blocks of sandbags... I think there was somewhere around 48 miles of sandbags and dikes created around the city.
