I really hate Yamaha of Brazil. Today I had an excellent offer for my ZX9 and probably will sell it.
So I decided to search for an used R1 to buy.Can you believe that in 2002 and 2003 Yamaha only brought to Brazil red and silver R1s. Not a single blue one !! Notice that blue is the color that everyone recognizes when someone wins a race ( MX, SX ) as being Yamaha's.
Regarding the 2004 R1, Yamaha will only bring them in 2005 !!! WTF?!?!? I heard that in September they will bring 16 R1s , but 2003 !!! Nobody knows the colors they will bring, which dealers will receive them , or the price.
Here Honda dominates the market with almost 90% of motorcycle sales.I wonder why...
Being the most beautiful sportbike , the 2004 R1 would definitely get attention from everybody. Even non riders would notice it and relate the quality to the brand, thus making some free and very effective advertising.
Here , people think Yamaha only makes small , noisy two-stroke utility motorcycles. Meanwhile Honda is selling CBRs !!!
It seems I will have to get a gixxer or a ZX 10R , but I think they're soooooo ugly ...

Yamaha of Brazil sucks bigtime!!!

??? There are things called visa's and passports they don't just give them out. I spent a whole year trying to get my wife her visa and that was almost imposible. Import is the easiest way. My brother n law imports cars all the time to people in Honduras. you'll end up about a 1,500 more than we would have to pay here after import taxes and all.

Yes I could get one imported.Right now I know that there are a few being imported by some shop, but they are estimating a price of 23.000 dollars, more than 5000 more than Yamaha( last year).Besides, there will be no warranty.I guess maybe I won't resist and get one...
To import by myself is another idea, and I'm already looking into it .If only any Yamaha dealer just gave me any solid news, like when they will arrive I would wait patiently.

Almost made a deal with a 2000 blue R1, stock , with 10000 miles. But I think the new one is so much more beautiful...that I chose to wait a little more and try to get it.

About moving, I have an excellent life here in Brazil. A few years ago, after a brief visit to Orlando and Miami, all I wanted was to move to the US, but since then things are going so well for me here that I wouldn't move.

I understand what a passport is and a visa. the thread above said MOVE not visit. passports are like you said and visa's are for liveing in an area. passports go out after 30days which crossing the border and returning will give you another 30 days easy enough to do. I had over 2 years fighting with polititions and embassy's trying to get my wife her visa which you also have to have a passport aswell, and that is why i put them both together above. Now my wife is a resident and no worries on all this mess.

The easiest as stated earlier would be to order blue body work. Plastic for the 04 is by far the least expensive of any bike out there. The only setback would be the international shipping.

I have just paid a deposit to get my 2004 R1 !!!!
I got a blue one and it's arriving in Brazil by sept 15th.
Got it from an independent importer, Yamaha is importing 2003 R1s to sell after october!!!
Every importer here complains about the difficulty to get the 04 R1. By now they're selling it for 25 to 26 thousand dollars. I got mine for 23.000 dollars just 15 days ago.

Good for you. It was best you bought the blue anyways. They don't put the "secret speed chip" into the red or silver. Poor bastiges with red/silver bikes are just trolling around wondering why everyone else on a Harley to a Zuma scooter is blowing their doors off. :finger
