We come across some awesome tech information at Graves Motorsports on a daily basis. I thought everyone would find this article interesting. We did not write it just passing it along.

Attached is a PDF file (to download) of a YEC Kit ECU presentation. It outlines the functions of the YEC ECU kit that is available for racing.

A quick copy and paste from the article.

"YEC Kit ECU presented on the Technical Letter n?1 is developed to communicate with a computer software called YMS : Yamaha Matching System.

This software offers the possibility to adjust several parameters. This is particularly interesting to set up ECU to the engine specifications and to optimise engine performances with track conditions."

ENJOY!

I got one :) :flex:

The 04-06 R1 has 3 different kit ecu part numbers, im figuring one for each race year, with little upgrades each year from things learned during the race season.

Me & Niles picked one up on the CHEAP last summer, sadly I only got about 100 miles on it so far, so im no expert.

Im rocking the 5VY-8591A-72 which if my idea stands true its the 2006 race brain.

Was running the ecu with my Motty autotuner / datalogger on the superbike map & it was a dream combo.

Here are a few snapshots from the 2004 Kit Manual.

Just plugged it into my stock wiring harness & scrolled through the dash options to change to SB map.

Did loose speedo & odo but headlights, fans, & fuel low light still good to go.

Just use a Garman GPS for speed & mileage.

Does the gps give you real time mph as you ride?

I was looking at Koso they make some speedo's. The no speedo capacity concerns me.

I have the Kit ecu for my 05 teamed up with a PC3 and igntion module. I set mine up in superbike mode and zeroed it out and did the tuning with the PC3 and igniton module. The superbike is set up for race cams and thinner head gasket and a full system. It was running fat about 10 to 1 in some areas and almost 15 to 1 in other areas. I had the tuner set it up to 12.6 to 1 for the most power and she is a beast. Also had him tune the igntion as well and now shes right. She pulled a 177 at the wheel on the final run.
