yet another radar dectector question

Well, I got nailed today with a nice 81 in a 55. Anyway, it's time for some radar. I did a search, but am a little confused. What is the BEST one available, (price don't matter). I'm 2 points away from loosing my license, I know I know...time to slow it down a bit, but anyway, I feel any chance of detection is better than none.

Thanks!!:beer

Escort 8500 X50. It detects pop radar too.

i have a v1, and its never let me down, i regularly do dubble the posted and more and ive always had enough time to slow down.

ive owned 3 other detectors, and the passport was as good in range, but lacking on info.

the arrows are amaising, you pinpoint regular hot spots around your daily drive the very first time, and it always let me know what is something to look out for.

i was on about a 3 ticket a year schedual, then i got a v1, and havent had a ticket in 3 years now.

i feel like im hunting the way you get information, you know how intense, where it is commoing from, and how many signals in the area as well as the most likely threat.

if i had to pick a down side, it would be the size, but it really isnt that big, and even if it was 600 or 800, i would still say that it is worth the extra money over the other detectors

dont get the stem stand mount(they look horrible)mount it in your nose and eithe rbuy the remote display for your dash or the H.A.R.D wireless system whre a small lite illuminates in ur helmet when it goes off
with the H.A.R.D system, is the light bright enough to see it during the day?

are the 8500, and the 8500x50 the same unit?

Plus consider the costs, a lot of people will tell you valentine is best because its expensive and because of their hardware update policy, but consider escort 8500 since the technology in radar detection and short wave won't change for at least another 5-10 years and only for some states like texas where there is the most speeding violations :)

x50 is updated unit i believe but check on the website I gave you :)

We might get a good deal if we do a group buy, my friend has escort 8500x50 and he loves it I have old cobra in my truck still works no POP detection but works infact saved me a ticket this morning :)
So if you're up for a group buy I might organize something with them .

If thats possible let me know. Either way I need one, and soon!

So, is everyone using the H.A.R.D. system? If not what do you use?

echo7,

have you even used a V1
like i said the passport has around the same range, but is no whear near as useful. with the directions you actuall have stero vision of the radar and know where it is, not just that its 3 bars away, maybe in front, or behind, or just a signal on the side of the road.

the V1 is still by far the best, and i have used the 8500 as well

believe me the V1 is top of the line

quality, features, directional arrows, remote display, headphone jack best range

the only down side is that it is bigger, more expensive and gets a few more false alerts

only the V1 and the escort 8500 can work with the H.A.R.D system but..

you can pretty much hear the stock speaker most of the time or you can get somethign called a screamer which hooks up to the audio out or you can do something which im tryin to do which is mount more powerful ights in your dash

i read the whole thing and what turns you off by it, it appears to out perform all the other detectors
Not in all test "important tests" bud .
Any radar detection over 2.5 miles is inaccurate to Radar GUN :) that's the only test valentine outperformed escort in, and POP testing, POP is only for TX :) it only failed one test though other test it detected . Spectre test showed that escort had better rating than escort. Blah you didn't read through it I guess :)

They don't sell V1 because person who invented it doesn't allow for some reason, and like I said My friend has one and it works falwlessly I believe that V 1 is great also but it costs way too much I mean let's facce it its TOO ****ING MUCH!
