Hi ya'll, I'm new on the forum and had a question. Before I ask it, I would like you to know that I did do a search but haven't found the answer I'm looking for.
I ride an 09. I bought the bike this past April. Got it used from a dealer (S&S Powersports, Louisville, KY.) The previous owner bought it, put a full Two Brothers exhaust (sounds so sick) and a Powercommander V on it. After 650 miles he had to get rid of it because he lost his job. I jumped on the chance to get an 09 with over $1500 worth of work and only 650 miles.
At first I didn't hear the tick, but over time it came more apparent. I asked some mechanic (friend of a friend) and he said that the sound would go away after my next oil change. Today was the day for the change. I used Mobil 1 full syn 10w40 and a K&N filter. The problem is that the tick has gotten much worse. I could hear it at idle and somewhat at cruise speed. It became most noticable when I was riding on an over pass and could hear the echo form the wall. I take that route everyday and can never remember the tick being that loud. The sound is coming form the bottom, front of the engine. I was just wondering if I should be worried or if anyody else has experienced this before?
If it means anything, I am having the usual cct clank. Im Going to talk to Yamaha about it on Tuesday but since the bike isn't under waranty, I'll probably just put an APE manual tensioner on it.
