I have Two Brothers Racing Pipes and I am looking to install the y-pipe to help reduce the heat from under the seat. I know the R1 is a hot running bike but will the y-pipe replacement also help reduce the internal temp of the bike/engine?

Also how easy/difficult is this replacement?

I dont have the 2 mothers, but I have the Leo Vince Y pipe and its not difficult at all. Make sure you keep all of your screws and bolts because you have to reuse a mount from the OEM heat sheild. Im not sure about the internal temp of the bike, because I replaced my Y pipe and my bike still gives off the same amount of heat and i havent noticed a change in my temperature. Good luck and take your time.

i to have the Leo Y pipe...but i left the ugly ass OEM heat shield off. which i think is why it did get rid of some of the heat. the heat shield blocks the heat from you...but in the process the heatsheild can and will heat up to a high temp..meaning when at a red light or a stop sign your ankle is right next to a very hot metal plate. which makes it seem even hotter. with out the heat sheild there then its just the pipe that is hot but air is blowing around it and in a way for lack of a better term "diminishing" the effect of more heat on your ankle

Changing the Y-pipe should have a small effect on making the engine run cooler. Getting rid of the cat should allow the hotter gasses to escape faster. That being said, I would bet the difference is VERY minimal.

just got the leo vince y-pipe as well.. tell you the truth even w/ the cats the heat is not that bad at all.. most heat was coming from the stock pipes on the 09, i thought.. but simple answer.. ceramic coating the y-pipe should help it do a better job..

i can see your thoughts on the heat shield. honestly.. go carbon fiber... i can easily put my bare hand on the cans even after riding all day..
