Good day to fellow R1 riders. Anyone can suggest on how will i lower an R1 about 1.5 inches or about 2 inches, need advice from fellow riders badly , and what type of setup would i need. thanks. hope i can get some suggestions. :riding

Well you can't change the stock rear ride height, so your options would be to get a lowering link, or raise the forks in the triple tree.

Or you can go with R1LOVER and let some air out of the tires (cheapest and fastest), or find some boots that have 1 1/2 heels on them.

Welcome to the forum.

Well, the Cons to lowering ANY bike is changing the Geomatry. Did you search That? I bet there isnt one guy on here that wants to lower a bike unless they use it for Drag racing...There is no PRO to it. :fact

Thanks for all the input. BADLY need suggestions on how to lower my bike properly and what type of links to buy, coz I only stand 5'5 and on a flat road im alreadt tip toed on a full stop and need to lower it a bit so that I would able to reach the ground especially stopping on a steep downhill or uphill. hope to get some inputs from fellow rider.

You may also be able to gain an inch or two by making some modifications to the seat. I don't have any suggestions on a clean looking way to do it, but you could remove the staples and take the cover off and shave some of the sides and the top down near the tank. The width of the seat can make a difference in leg positioning. You can always soften the rear suspension a little so that it will sag more with your weight as a temporary fix.

Look up the seat mod. Check the sag settings, at that hieght, your weight may be low. Maybe you can adjust the springs to come down (sag) for your weight. If that don't work, look for an adjustable lowering link possibly, and pull the forks through the triple clamps to match the rear, and only go as far as absolutely needed. The geometry will be affected as Wheatman said.

Good luck.

I got the same problem like you but damn 5'5. Your probably more badly off than I am. I just bought me some lowering links. You have to be able to have both feet planted IMO cause stops at a hill like you said. IF you have to come to a fast/hard stop on a hill you could lay your bike down if yoru not ready for it. It almost happened to me on a hill when a dumbass car was parked on the wrong lane talking to another and I didnt' see him.

I stand 5'4" and strongly don't recommend lowering it. I lowered it from the dealer with a link and almost low sided going through some twisties. I raised it back to stock, had my mechanic shave an inch off the seat but lowered the triple 1 inch and stand on the balls of my feet now. Granted hills scare the shit out of me and even high curbs. Handling is ten times better than before. just shave the seat an inch and you should be fine.

Different type of riders have different opinions. Most novice riders will not be hitting twisties at 80+ miles an hour to experience that. Every day daily grind where there is alot of hills like where i'm at. Safety to stop and plant both feet is more important to me. I almost laid my bike down cause I had an emergency stop and didn't expect it, on a hill. If i was able to plant both feet down it would have been not a problem.
