Has anyone received an ABS delete plug from FTECU that works on the 2020+ R1 or R1M? Mine arrived dead out of the packaging, the speed sensors were faulting out immediately before I left the garage. Rode a few miles to see if the sensors would clear up. Got back to the house pulled the code(P0500.) Decided to swap the pump back in since this was the only new mod and could account for my other 2 CELs (exhaust servo and AIS solenoid.) Everything works perfectly again. It appears the plugs are causing wheel speed sensor P0500 fault. This makes your speedometer read 0, quickshifter is locked out, SCS is disabled, and various dash lights. Plugged the ABS delete back in to verify what I was seeing. Back to immediately faulting out the speed sensors. Yes my battery was out of the bike when this was installed and uninstalled.

Update:

Got a refund from the manufacturer.

If it’s like the 15-19, you can bypass the ABS with replacement brake lines and just leave the pump in place and plugged in. I’ve run my bike with the plug and with the pump, both work. Now, important to understand that I have a 16, not a 20-21. In the thread posted above, the OP has issues with the FTEcu ABS Delete Plus in his 20-21 and others mentioned issues with the 15-19 models too but in the end, my FTEcu plug was not the issue.

Gotcha; I realize the 20-21 models are strange birds compared to 15-19 R1’s when it comes to the ecu. It’s gonna be a few weeks before I bypass the abs unit with new lines. I’m going to continue looking for specific info on the 20/21 abs system. Thanks for all the real-world info; please keep posting if anyone has more!

Documented my issues with the ABS delete in my Kit install thread. Chased gremlins for months before discovered the plug was the cause all the time. Speed sernsor errors. Errors went away when I plugged the OEM pump back in. Purchased the YART ABS delete and not a single issue. 4 trackdays lost with FTEcu delete where I couldn't get a single lap in. With the OEM/YART solution have done 5 trackdays in a row and over 600 track miles and not an issue. Have tried to contact FTEcu and been completely ignore. I'm local so I'm going to drive by the shop. And see about a refund. I purchased direct from them. Like someone else said I'm not going to play the keep trying until one works.

Also in regards to the kit. Regardless of the kit or OEM you have to complete the circuit by having the pump or an abs delete. So if you get the kit ecu you will still need the a solution to do that. I don't know that it matters if you have the kit or the OEM as the connector is the same on both. The kit fits the OEM ABS unit so take that for what it's work

just to follow up. After not being able to get a response by email I called. While they offered to send a replacement, I was told they don't do refunds... something about once it's taken out of the package. So you're willing to replace but not refund. I don't get that. Arrived new and defective. If they want me to send the old in to be replaced, what are they replacing it with? Refurb? Used? But whatever. I'm not playing musical FTEcu abs. I have a working delete from another vendor (first shot). So screw them. $250 Lesson learned, won't be buying anything from them again

I honestly think they’re missing some resistors in the plug that are causing the faults. My ABS delete isn’t working either, and now I’m stuck with it sitting in the toolbox. This weekend I’ll be doing my ECU move to under the tail, but it’s slightly annoying to make it all fit as the abs pump is still mostly there (minus the metal)

This is what I was going for, still may do if my health improves, it has shed a lot of weight and it ain't going much difference to me , but I heard they were, cheaper too. Also I could take the ecu out from under the fuel tank and put it in the abs pumps place [emoji106]
I just blanked the pump off at present. It will probably stay that way, I heard them FECTU had problems, in the end I decided as Gearheaded said TC failing in a crucial place could be serious.
I think if anything fails you should be entitled to a refund at least or a choice [emoji106]

Thought about it a bit and eating almost $300 didn't sit well with me so I opened a claim to try and recover my money. Hate having to do stuff like that but if that's the way want to do business then so be it. luckily I paid with Paypal and they are working with me on this. If any of you guys having issues and paid with paypal open a case and let me know and we can link them so that they can see the trend. Also I'm guessing due to Covid I think that purchase protection window has been extended. So you may not be out of luck. So now the wait to see what happens begin because have to go through Paypals dispute process. But I opened my case and then called to immediately escalate so I don't have to go through that waiting period for series of responses

Well... Yesterday I finally got to test my second FlashTune plug (their new version). Bike glitched out again a few laps in. Acts a bit different than it did with the old plug, but crapped out nonetheless.

Had a chat on the phone with a very knowledgeable fellow in the UK that owns a shop and has built many race R1s'. Has raced and even won a championship on one. Told me that every one of these plugs he's come across, has had issues. So what he does is, take apart the ABS pump and just keep the plastic part where the electronics is housed in, and use that as a plug. Not as pretty or compact as an aftermarket unit, but work perfectly with no issues.

Glad I found this. Just did the ABS delete yesterday to my 21'. Pulled the pump and replaced it with the FTECU module. I don't see any codes but the pins wouldn't line up at all until and "finessed" them into place. Didn't make me feel warm and fuzzy about the install. Think I'm going to pull the FTECU plug and put the pump back in place. I don't want am issues in the middle of a race.

My issue is this.. I'm kind of tired of people saying "shouldn't be against this or that or be patient". Companies aren't patient if I don't have the money to pay for their product. I contacted FTEcu repeatedly and nicely about the ABS delete when I figured out it was causing my problems. I got no response. Nothing no returned emails nor returned messages. The weekend before I realized it was the ABS Delete I was talking to someone out the track who I thought had a 2020 (but turned out to be the previous gen with the 2020 bodywork) and the rider turned out to work for FTEcu and when I explained the issues with my bike.... he said nothing. Nothing!!! They are not a huge company so being one of their engineers he would have known about the issues with that plug. This is a potential safety hazard and FTEcu said nothing about it. No notice on their website. No communications to their vendors. I purchased my 2020 ABS plug directly from them and when they found out their were issues with these things especially ones that cause problems with the electronics, they should have sent out some sort of notification. But nothing.

Shit happens I know and if when I initially reached out to them about my issues they had responded and been open about the problem, a KNOWN problem I would have been a bit more understanding. Hell I would have been willing to drop my bike out off for them to test with if needed. But the fact that I had to hound and hound them before a I could a simple reply....... there is no excuse. there is also no excuse for them to refuse a refund for a defective product on their part. By the time they had decided to speak with me I had already gone the YART route so had no need for a replacement. I should not have had to open a dispute case to get my money back from them on a product they knew had issues. Had they practiced simple basic costumer service I wouldn't avoid their products like I am now. Again shit happens I know it's how you deal with it when it does. I'm far from rich so I can't just eat $200+ or pay to be a parts tester for any company. If they are willing to put a product out and take people's money then they should be willing to offer reasonable customer support. Especially when they know the issue was on their side. so no I will never purchase from them again. Not because they had issues with one of their product, but because of how they handled those issues

Well. I just spent the better part of an afternoon trying to trouble shoot why I was receiving the ERR code in the top right hand corner of my display and couldn't access my YEC menu. I'll mention I also just performed the Brentuning flash.

After the flash, we pulled the ABS and pump, installed the FT module and the bike went haywire. I pulled the FT module off, reinstalled the pump, reset my flash back to stock, unplugged the battery for 15 minutes, pulled the FT module and re-flashed the bike and everything is back to normal. I would not recommend using the FT module.

And this comes from one of the most competent tuners so Socal (who has been a past crew chief for multiple national and world level champions)

My bike is a 2021 R1

Sorry to revive an old thread. I have a 2017 and removed the oem abs lines (including the metal pipe lines directly to the pump) left the pump in place but the abs light won't go away while riding, is that normal or is there anything i can do to remove that light ?

I assume it dedects no pressure since the abs lines are removed

So my original rendition was a plastic cover that I ordered off Amazon that worked fine, but after my first crash I damaged the abs module and ordered another. I had some spare sheet metal from a different project so I just used that, but I liked the look of the plastic originally.
The foam on my pump is because my ecu has extenders that place it under the seat, so I don’t want anything rubbing against my ecu.

ok so its really just a blanking plate screwed to the pump, remove the hard lines and new brake lines, that easier than I had thought it would be haha.

Thanks very much for taking the time to get pictures etc - not a lot of people still doing that on forums anymore!! I really appreciate it!
