2007 r1 with 9,000Km. I was coming back from a 2,700Km touring trip with a friend. during the trip i notice my bike was acting funny, When i was riding at 120Km+, if i wanted to pass cars, I down shift to 4 or 5 gear then crank the thottle, the rpm on the bike just rev really high, then the bike slowly pick up speed. it fell it the chain it free running till something caught on. When we finally stop in the gas on our back back home. I slow down and turn in to the gas station, kicking the bike in to 3-2 and finally gear 1 because of traffic ahead. When my bike was in gear 1, I release the clutch slowly and give it a little gas, The bike doesnt move. i tries shifting for 2nd gear, my bike not moving..the same thing happend for next gear until 6th! like nothing, just vrooooom vroooomm like in neutral position. I got off the bike and park it aside in the parking lot. I had to truck my bike home.

Thing I tries:
1- turn of the bike, let it cool down abit then start it, kick in gear.
result- bike start, gear shifted. BIKE DOESNT MOVE.

2- turn the key to the on position, (bike not started) kick in 1 first gear, push the bike.
Result- bike goes in 1st gear, pushing the bike feel like it in netural (light and move easily) also tries all gear with the same result.

when i was pusing the bike, the chain seem to move.

bike background:
1 week before we went on our touring trip, it rained really hard, and some assh*le back into my bike and tipped over on the kick stand side. I tried to stand it up without any luck. The bike was laying on the side for 2-4 hrs till my neighboor stood it up for me.

Question for you people:

what should I check? what do u guy think is the problem?

thanks in advance.
(side note) My grammar and english is terrible hope you all can understand what i am trying to say.

I think that when your bike was knocked over, the clutch lever was damaged, this has had the effect of making the clutch cable tight and making the clutch slip.

Because your clutch has been slipping badly for some time, the plates will have got very hot and may be worn out/warped/damaged which now simulates the clutch being pulled in all the time.

You may be able to adjust the clutch cable at the lever with the adjuster wheel until there is some slack before the cable is pulled, this may fix the problem, but you probably need to fit a new clutch.

Just a update for future reference. I took the bike to the shop and like all of you suggested. It was the clutch problem.

Question for you guy is $723.59 Canadian for the cost of clutch replacemnet along with normal oil change sound fair to you guy?

Shop break down.
335. for clutch kit (parts)
3hrsX110=330
misc cost = xx
total 723.59

Holy freaking Canadian bacon! That's about double what it should be. Clutch will take 1 hour tops. Add a 1/2 hour for an oil change and that's it. Besides, you don't need to drain the oil to replace a clutch. $335 for the parts is also 2X the cost. You can find a clutch kit online for about $150. I've done several clutches and it's really quite simple. Do it yourself and save yourself some $.
