Yes you can use the factory quickshifter that was included on the R1/R1M. This is a good video that shows the location where you plug it in, as well as in the video and the comments he tells you how to enable it in the settings:

Plug into white connector above shifter within the rubber boot.

Put the bike in 2nd with the bike off, press and hold the shifter up and turn the bike ignition on.. hold the shifter up for 10 seconds and it'll enable.

 

yea if you follow the wires from the oil pressure switch and the kick stand switch they go up into a rubber boot that also has the quick shifter plug. the r1s will have a white cap you remove to plug in the sensor. yamahasportsplaza has the units for 138 dollars and 16 for the shift rod cheapest i have seen

 

Having the same issue 2018 R1, the QSS setting instantly goes to off when trying to select it. Everything else on the bike works. Any suggestions ? I’ve tried the 2nd gear, bike off, push up on the shift lever, bike on, wait 10 seconds and try to enable. No dice.
Also have an FTECU quickshifter, does the same thing. All 3 QS wires check good from the QS to the ECU. Kind of at a loss here. Looking for any help.

 

i am having the exact problem right now. installed new QS and nothing is showing up when i try the shift up method

 

Not sure if this helps at all but my ambient air temp sensor was unplugged due to the front mainstay being aftermarket with no provision for the sensor. Plugged the air temp sensor back in and my QS works up/down.
