Thankfully, I haven't. When riding a machine that can accelerate your body up to speeds bordering 200 miles per hour with little to no protection, the one component you NEVER should cheap out on is the brakes. If you don't want to spend money on brakes, leave it OEM, because Yamaha OEM braking systems (especially the 04-06 R1s) are exceptionally good.

17.5mm master...that's probably the perfect number for me personally. 16 has too much travel and 19 isn't enough. That price tag bothers me though. We're programmed to believe price is a 1:1 reflection of quality, and as suggested, it's a pretty essential component to cheap out on. That said, I can't see instantaneous failure from lower tolerances in machining the body/piston/lever...nor the material make up. Even cheap seals will hold up until worst case cenario --> they leak...and you throw it in the trash. It's possible that issues could arise, (like binding levers) but you should be able to test it out in an invironment/speed that alows for enough room to use just the rear and be in control.

I agree entirely re our expectation that expensive generally = better quality and better machining. I also agree with not wanting to skimp on a potentially life saving part.

I was asking the Q originally to see if anyone had used and inspected the part (ADELIN Red & Black 7/8" 17.5 x 18 mm Hydraulic Front Brake Master Cylinder - the original link went' weird for some reason...). I preferably wanted to know if it was crap based on someone holding in their hands and seeing it, rather than assume it was because it cost $40-50.

Are there other options other than OEM/Brembo worth considering?
This is for a rebuild after a crash. Always thought the OEM brakes were great so I'm more or less curious rather than *needing* to look for anything else.
