the 19x20 bore markings, the size of the hole (usually cable-tied), the colour of the Master cylinder itself, and the nut size for the bleed nipple incorrect.

Apart from that, they're great :)

Someone posted the differences on www.visordown.com

The main differences are the area around the lever pivot on a Brembo is machined flat on bith sides and later cylinders have the dimensions stamped on the top flat, wheras the copies are rough cast.

The finish of the copies is a slightly gloss painted type finish and Brembo's are dull anodized finish, the same goes for the pushrod/span adjuster etc, these are gloss black on the copies and satin/matt on Brembo's.
the clips for the lever pivot pin is black on the copy and silver on Brembo

There is no stamping or etching on the copy levers and are a rougher finish/ not as machined and brembo have the ratio # etched or stamped either on the ball of the lever or in the cut-out just near the span adjuster.
The span adjuter on the copy is really stiff and doesn't 'click' nicely.

The copies come with a reservoir and hose fitted, there is no branding on the reservoir, brembo's dont come with res and the brembo res has the 'B' logo on the lid.

The bleed nipple on the copy is 8 or 10mm nut and Brembo's are 11mm.
Mate of mine sent me a pic of his after i posted this info on there.... i looked and they're totally different.

Damn what is next to be fake. Should make that quote a sticky to help out other people. Good info.:sneaky

you are correct in there is a forged and billet variety.....but this is a copy of the forged genuine brembo.

the casting looks pretty rough
there are lots of copy products from taiwan(ive been to the trade shows there)
sone of its good, some not(long way to go with titanium exhausts, billeted parts are fine)
but they never blantatly put the original name on their goods.maybe this master is from mainland china or another place

There's actually cast, forged and billet. My Ape came with cast radial Brembo's, silver in color and exactly the same as come on many Ducati's. The forged units are the next step up followed by the billet which can be crazy expensive. Brembo has a new adjustable lever for clutch and brake with integrated micro switches. They're quite tasty.

I'm not so sure the first one is fake. Never says billet or forged, just that it's a radial Brembo unit.

Dam! I am in the market for a 19x18 Brembo, Of course Im looking for the cheap one on Ebay. Maybe I should just buy from Gravesport.com for $253 it is worth it just to know that it is a real one and not a copy.

Thanks for the heads up though. Good post!!!

Hey, I haven't seen the fake one first hand so I'll take your word for it but there are a ton of different MC's out there and I own their billet stuff as well as the cast stuff so I know the difference.

Looks just like this one on the U.S. Ebay store from a supposed Brembo authorized dealer, anyone want to give them a ring? Anyone close by that can stop by and take a look at it?

The nipple that the Reservoir connects to is correct (look at size and shape on the fake) on the link above as is the texture of the actual MC and look at the lever... totally different on the fake.

ALso the 19x20 etched on lever. Look at where the brembo logo is, there'a differnce in surface on the genuine ones which isn't there on the fake, but is there on your one above too.

Lastly, look at the span adjuster, very rounded on the fakes, flat and round on the genuine.

What bit are you missing lads ? It's not brain surgery.

the fakes look like cheap fakes without the correct markings and all the 'bits' wrong.

If you can't see that, there's not a lot i can do.

I read about this in MCN yesterday, I brought my 19x20 m/c on ebay about 6 months ago and was paraniod mine was a dud. I was on my hands and knees with a torch in the garden last night trying to look for "rough casting marks" and "bore diameter markings." Its definately genuine though! Was worried there for a minute.

Got mine from here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Brembo-Front-...QQcategoryZ25623QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQ_trksidZp1638.m118.l1247QQcmdZViewItem

Only cost me ÂŁ170 though, they seem to have gone up in price.:dunno

Ok, so I bought a Brembo Master for the 05 R1 I am building for the track. I went to the dealership yesterday for some help but they were clueless. Maybe you guys can help me out.

I am looking for a DUAL banjo bolt, with a bleeder at the end of it. The thread pitch has to match the Brembo AND it has to have the tapered end on the bolt. Most bolts I found have the flat end, but if you look into the Brembo Master where the bolt goes, the fitting is tappered at the bottom.

What bolt setup did you guys use for your Brembos?
