Brake upgrade comparison

So im thinking about upgrading my R1M's braking system

What will get swapped for sure are the calipers, MC and disc brakes

I am not sure about the brake lines, they do look like braided steel ones already ?

Disc brake would get replaced by the T-Drives - love them on my ZX-10r

now the big question for me is regarding calipers and MC

so it's either:

- RCS19 + M4

- RCS17 + M50/GP4-RS (both have 30/30 pistons)

I know how the RCS19 + M4 will feel like but i never tried it on an ABS bike

I heard that some recommend RCS17 + M50 setup for a better feel (for ABS bikes)

what do you guys think ? did an upgrade yourself already ?

What is it about your brakes you find lacking? Is this strictly a street bike?

Most riders start with better aftermarket pads and good fluid and then go from there. Nothing wrong with the stock rotors unless they're warped; plenty of racebikes still use them. Likewise, calipers and MC work quite well. Sounds like you want to add a bit of bling, nothing wrong with that.

And yes, the front lines are SS as stock.

the only thing i've done so far is replaced the pads with EBC HH ones, the difference is day and night

but i still would like better feel so i thought about the MC, the nissin feel is quite wooden

i do track days occasionally

oh and that's great regarding the lines. so i only have to upgrade the rear ones then

what is wrong with the brake fluid that many change them out ? do they boil that fast ?

FWIW, and after going back and forth and listening to others on this subject, I watched my buddy put down flawless 1:51's at Thunder Hill on his stock R1M, with stock brakes, stock pads, stock suspension, all the electronics enabled and slicks on Saturday. IFAIK that's only ~3.5 sec of the lap record for unlimited 1000cc Superbikes, ridden by the West Coast's finest. He had zero fade.

I think I'm going to focus my investment in coaching, track time and fitness before spending another $ on upgrades!
