does anybody not like the sound of a two-stroke?

 

I love the sound of the CPC versus what my 07 R1 with Graves sounded like. went from sounding like a cracked out weedeater to sounding like a throaty V8. not knocking 07's...great bikes. but at high RPM they do sound like that

there's tons of people on this forum that knock the new gen R1...a lot of those people complain about the weight and lack of horsepower -- those same people have never (and don't plan on) riding their bike on track; so their opinions are rather irrelevant :crash

 

I hope it's just a matter of getting used to it. Bike is still in the "break in" period so I'm not totally thrashing it until I get a few miles on the thing. Trying to stay at 10k rpm and below until at least 600 miles.

As far as tracking it, I hope to maybe get some track time in this summer if this seasons road racing schedule allows for it. Racing both a car and a bike gets expensive real fast. Hell, just racing one or the other isn't cheap. :lol

I have a 2005 and a 2010 and the 05 has cams and the likes but no matter what no power below 7grand. The 2010 is so much smoother a lot early. Got to say I like the 2010. With the same mods the 2010 will have a much wider powerband. Plus a full system and the 2010 sounds right. i love the sound.:flex:

The cross plane has an inherit problem due to the EPA. Remove those restrictions via flashing the ECU, put a full system on it, stacks, and tune it. This bike was made to mod.

Vees are better (see any traditional inline 4's in GP?) and the csc acts like one.

 

I wouldn't buy a fast Harley either :lol

Every bike has it's own "inherent quirks," I see people on here all the time selling their current bikes that might or might not have been setup properly to grab the latest and greatest and then proclaim it's the greatest right away then to turn around and not like it (usually to justify it to themselves) and start the vicious cycle all over again..

The current generation R1's are great bikes and the power delivery is truly unique. I didn't like the on / off throttle transitions (to abrupt) so I did the right research to drop a YEC ECU into the mix to fix these problems.

That's when the cycle started to make it the best it can be: From there is was suspension setup (via Graves Ohlins), a nice mix of everything we make at Graves and dialed in and there you have what is a fully balanced, flickable and EXTREME weapon.... lol

I absolutely love my 09. It has plenty of power (got videos...) and sounds amazing piped.

Cross-planes, V's and Twins (especially Ducati's) all sound like poo poo.
