Hey everyone. I made the poor decision of sending my keys through the mail, and they got lost:shake. So, I need to remove the upper triple tree to bring it to a locksmith to make a new one. I have been looking for a little bit on how to do it but I cannot find a clear, step by step method on how to do this. I have an 02 R1. Thanks for all the help!

Its fairly easy work.
Get a 36mm socket. remove the center nut.
using a allen wrench remove the pinch bolt beneath your handle bars.
it should come out :fact

- put bike on front and rear stands
- disconnect battery negative lead
- remove front wheel
- remove clip on bolts on the top of the triple clamp
- remove front brake reservoir from top of triple clamp and secure with string, bungie cord or similar
- loosen top fork pinch bolts on either side of the triple clamp
- remove large upper triple clamp nut and washer in center of triple clamp
