New R6 too hyped up

I know YAMAHA claims the new R6 to have over 130 hp and all that good stuff but one mag I read is saying that the new R6 , although a very well designed bike, is still not at that level of the hp they claim too have, and i don't see how it could be so much more powerful than my 636, while still retaining 599ccs?

Plus your cow cheated and has extra torque so the Hp issue still won't be all it sounds like. TQ #'s and the actual curve are the reason bench racing makes no sense.

117 with a Graves full system is what is what the new R6 is droppin to the wheel ... :)
amen to that, proof. The 636 will out torque it for sure, but its not a real 600 is it. Plus the new R6 revs like a mofo to make more power up top. Not some huge conspiracy...of course its hyped up though...thats how you sell and make money. But the hype has to have some legitimate facts...which in this case it appears to back up the claims being made.

So you're saying the manufacturers exaggerate their figures? Damn.......who would've ever thought they'd do such a thing?

Really, though, it's a known fact that these HP figures are a bit higher than what the real world will bring.

Sucks for all the magazine junkies to have their hearts ripped out once they find out the truth.

And that 636 has a slight advantage. Not to mention it can't legally race against 599cc bikes in most organizations.

Wait until the R6 starts proving itself on the tracks. Then you'll see that the HP numbers are just a fraction of what it's all about. Yamaha did more than just throw a few more ponies at it. They refined the geometry, suspension, and rideability of it.

Did anyone ever explain why the Dynos that have come out so far didn't show it reving all the way to 17,5?

it can peak at 14.5 because it has the 17.5 to rev to.
I understand the extra revs. But I didn't think the dynos showed it even going TO 17,5

yea i know the mags lie, and yes my bike is 636ccs i said that from the beginning, which is the point i'm trying to prove, a 599cc bike with more hp than my 636 at the wheel is strange, and as for not being fair did anyone ever hear of the AMA legal ZX6RR 599CC prodution bike?
Also 636 dynoed at 116 at rear wheel stock! No pipe no ecu. I'm not hating on the R6, just questioning it.

It really wouldn't be that strange. It's called technology, the advancement of which allows better mechanical performance. Granted this bike ain't there, but if it were true it would be :boobies but not really strange.

I understand that but, some titanium valves and shortie moto gp stlye exhausts, make that much of a power jump? DOES everbody think the new R6 is going to dominate the 600 class?
Street or Track which 600 do you REALLY think is going to rule, be honest, remember ZX6RR 599ccs:2bitchsla

You come to a yam forum when we got a new bike coming out with only what two tests published of it's performance on track and both were huge :thumbup and you ask who do you think will win races? :dunno ............................ :fork

I figured you would say that, and don't get me wrong it seems like its going to do preety good, but don't get big heads like HONDA and say its all about the bikes, thats how they lost their best rider! Give everbody a equal chance even if KAWI always has the least bikes on the track, thats just more reason to push harder.

The over rev has stores of tunable power if tuned proper. The 636 and I owned one put out in avg 113. I was an active member of the Kawi forums- You simply cannot compare a 636 to a 600. One bike has a factory over bore, one doesnt, end of discussion-

Hooligan was right the chassis and throttle control is the biggest story on this bike, Secondly the dual speed adjustments stock, then the high rev ceiling, and more ECU processing power then ever scene on a street bike before, that is what is different in this bike versus others IMO...

xDx

My exact thoughts. The new R1 I think will be ridiculous. I am seriously considering one... even started a thread asking you lot what I should do. 07 will be my year...

ZX6RR 599CCS Tommy and Roger Lee Hayden can show some serious competition on the track, come on donnie, if you were a former Kawi rider & member you should know this

Now you are comparing a rr version to a R6. Different comparison. Didn't here me say the RR wasn't an amazing bike. I was a signature away from owning one...

I still stand by my statement. The new R6 is the next step in the evolution of bike. Last round Kawi did with the advent of Radial brakes, slipper clutch ala RR, petal rotors, magnesium cases, and some other shit. Kawi pushed the envelope, now someone is pushing to the next level. Suzuki might do it next, then Honda, then Yamaha, Kawi again... how the game goes

YES, you are so right, this is the R6's time to shine, but i just hate when people flame what i ride. Every manufacturer deserves some praise for their achievements, maybe its hard for me to let go after such a great year for the Kawis

It's all cool man. No matter what we say most agree the bikes are all pretty equal at this point. My brother should have a 636 by may. I'll whip him no matter what I get (R1 or R6) but that's more skill than bike. :fact
