Ive got an 07 that has some minor damages from shipping. I going to be replacing the parts with oem since the company is paying. My question is has anyone that has replaced single parts noticed the paint being off enough to notice?

this is what i was welcomed to as the shipment arrived.

i know they come painted and all. its just that every car or truck i have owned has been red, and you tend to notice a fade in red. well more so than other colors typically. ive only owned the bike for a year so im not sure if it has had any fade or if so how much. thats really the only reason i ask. plus i have seen color codes get mixed a bit off before, but that obviously wasnt factory doing.

thanks for the responses

lol thats what i said! funny part is my sv came in just fine. they blocked the sides of the tires on it though. Mrcycles is where ive always found the lowest price, but shippings never decent from anyone even when it is for just a couple of bolts.

oh and what you cant see there is that the sidestand is down and through the bottom of the crate along with the left mirror being broken off.

It's hard to tell from the pic. Are you in the military? I got lucky and my bike made it from Hawaii to Cali then Cali to Japan with no damage. The movers taking it out of the crate in Cali did manage to put some scratches from not knowing how to handle my bike (I wasn't present) and not knowing how to get it out of the crate. Company wanted to have the damages re-painted, told them I wanted them replace and gave the retail cost.

Yeah, I think with any of those mentioned the shipping will always kick you in the ass. For small stuff like hardware, I'd just get from the dealer for that reason.

yeah im military and in the uk. they want to just paint the parts but im not to content with that without it being a full repaint. ive made it very clear that isnt the way i want to go. i got the bikes mid April and this is still going on.the company is offereing about a grand less than the estimates add up to but i have almost no time to get out and get the extra estimates that i need to legaly persue more. therefore im thinking of just taking the 2800 they are offering and swaping the pieces and selling what i have.

the exchange rate is working in my favor here since i can still order my parts from the states. just a new tank here is 900 pounds = $1485.

You've been goin' at it with them for some time now. If the $2800 is more than enough to cover ordering your parts, I'd say go for it. I'd stick with OEM paint vs. repaint, that's just me though.

Oh and you a lucky bastid to be stationed in the UK, I'm envious.

well its actually enough i could put an entire new oem body on. thats what i wanted to do but i need a new chain and sprockets on both bikes. plus some rearsets for the r1 would be nice. im sure i can come up with a bit more too.

im glad im here, but im glad its only 2 years. im thinking something out west the next time around. someplace dry, warm, and year round riding weather.
