that bike is simply stunning. Great work and great overall plan.

Dream parts on the bike everywhere.

You are a lucky guy indeed :)

First ride....

Stumbles badly off the line. Leaving every stoplight is an exercise in throttle and clutch control to keep her from bogging out. There's just not enough juice down low to get any grunt out of it. Guess I'm going to start looking like a squid, and slipping the clutch a bit with a few rpm's on the motor. I'm sure that's a side-effect of the airbox and carbs, so it's just something I'll have to live with....because....when you get her above 2K and into the revs, she RIPS. Absolutely frigging nuts. It was night time, cold and damp, so I didn't want to rip thru the gears too fast. I did a 6th gear roll-on at about 5k rpm, and I initially thought the clutch was slipping. Turns out, I was spinning the rear tire! Didn't figure that out till I got to the offramp a few hundred yards down the road, and smelled the rubber at a stop.

6th gear, 5k RPM and 80mph on the freeway, I'm spinning the rear with a full throttle twist. NUTS.

So, as I'm sure it's been said a zillion times on this board, the carbs and airbox are NOT city driving/stoplight friendly. On the freeway and canyon carving, plenty good. With all that power on tap and using the quarter-turn throttle, I've got some work to do before taking her up to the canyons. The throttle is awfully touchy.

A little engine work, and I'm sure this thing would be insane. :scared

it's just the start of the can of worms mark.:fact i'm sure when you take it to do the a/f mixtures and re-jet it etc, it will be that good again. it's a steep learning curve you are now on, that's for sure.:thumbup

Well...Lee's Cycle here in San Diego told me they've got the sweet settings for it, and would take about 4 hours on the dyno at $60 an hour. I'll be giving them a call next month. :)

cold & damp 80mph full throttle new tire, come on man you just got it back together. A sudco airbox and carbs just sold on ebay I thought about bidding but I have to learn when to hold, fold & run spent alot $$$ last 2 months. Bike's in a class of its own awesome job.

:crash

yea yea....i know. :)

at least there was no wheelie involved....just wanted to see how she'd move. kind of a nice thing to know...just in case i need to "move" out of some cager's way. not a good time to find out she bogs and falls flat.

i can't recommend the carbs and box enough....can wait for BSR to do my headwork and get the whole system tuned in....:scared

will any brand airbox and carbs have more or less the same result? I probrably should of bid on the ebay box it went for $50 something but i never heard of sudco? I wonder if it will be a handfull powering out of corners wait a min. YES it will, damn i love that bike.
