According to my local Yamaha dealer, there will be no significant changes in the 04 R1 as reported from the dealers meeting last week. Oh well, my 02 is still more than enough for me to handle.
i wouldn't put too much value on that comment from whomever said it. it's a known fact, yamaha releases dirt bikes, 4-wheelers and some street bikes in the spring and sport bikes in the fall. remember when the most recent version of the r1 was released? it was in the fall. stay calm.....stay focused......the r1 info will be released later this year. even if the frame & swingarm gets the "cf" method of casting, it will be a big change.idoc said:According to my local Yamaha dealer, there will be no significant changes in the 04 R1 as reported from the dealers meeting last week. What the hel was that comment for?winders said:Wow. With Kawasaki and Honda coming out with new liter bikes for 2004, the R1 will be the fourth best performing bike.
I sure hope the R1 stays the best looking bike. Otherwise what would you guys have to use as an excuse to say the R1 is still "the One"???
And the R1 will get its butt kicked in the AMA Superbike races.....

I found it funny as hell:lolyzf1070 said:What the hel was that comment for?
I can't totaly agree on that. Race wins does help. Did you buy the One because of race wins? I didn't. I got it because it was a comfortable kick a$$ overall package. That, and I love Yamaha's. Squids don't care about race wins, they just want a cool looking bike and bench race. Current times I'd say there are more squids than true riders.R1_abuser said:If they didn’t come out with a new bike in 04 it would be a bad business move on their part. Race wins sell bikes. With Yamaha not competing in either AMA Superbike or World Superbike due to an uncompetitive bike is very bad for the company.
Sorry, I must not be part of the inside joke... To me it just seemed to be an out of the blue insult... I apologize if I was mistaken.Shadow One said:I found it funny as hell:lol

:iamwithstDaekwan said:I dont believe it. Yamaha has too much to lose as far as sales are concerned by keeping the same bike. Its all about money people. Always remember that. Suzuki is already kicking azz with its new 2003 Gix1000. Honda will have a brand new 1000RR, and Kawasaki will have a brand new ZX-10R.
Do you really think the marketing department of Yamaha is silly enuogh to expect people to purchase a bike that has not been redisigned in 3 years?? Especially considering how competitive and changing the sportbike field is?
Now see that's awsome!!!!:rock You can't just get a full tank of gas anywhere you know. Can you deal wit dat Suzuki!!!!:lolR-Uno said:I just heard through the grapevine that the 04 R1 will have a single sided swingarm and full tank of gas!
