If you live in a climate where it freezes then run 50/50 distilled water with antifreeze. Any reputable brand will be fine.

For the summer or climates where freezing isn't a problem then run distilled water with water wetter.

Edit: Noticed your location... antifreeze for you!

I use engine ice in all my bikes, just need to flush out the old stuff. Great stuff and you can use it up there I would think protects down to -27.

POWERSPORT INDUSTRY?S #1 ENGINE COOLANT - Engine Ice
I am using Engine Ice also . Definitely it is one of the best on the market . There is a lot to like about this antifreeze. Not only how well it works but the fact that it’s safe antifreeze to handle and accidentally ingest in small amounts. It works so well that it is the product of choice for many of road racing teams. It may just be the top antifreeze product on web's list

Any motorcycle specific one will do. Stay away from coolant for autos as I hear they have silicates.
What's the problem with Silicates?

The owners manual for my '08 says use a quality Ethylene Glycol antifreeze with inhibitors for aluminium engines.

I have heard this mentioned about silicates before, what's the reason behind it?

Regards,

Chris

I've been using Honda (automotive) Type 2 Coolant, blue in color, it contains no silicates and is formulated for aluminum engines. Has worked well for me with no leaks, one bike is my 99 R1 with the original water pump. I learned about in on a cycle forum.

Does it matter what bike...mine is already low well the overflow is on low right above the stator cover...I can't tell what color it is..looks like a darkish green but can't really tell and haven't taking the cover off to look but do they sell any of this at Advanced Auto Parts or anything?

That Amsoil coolant boost sounds pretty good, but that's probably cause I'm biased with their oil. I've always heard good things about Water Wetter and want to give it a try, but the ease of use with Engine Ice is the reason for my route. Read WW is a little better than Engine Ice, but Engine Ice has sufficed me year round in Hawaii, the summers of Cali (NorCal to SoCal), and the winter to the beginning of summer in Japan (can't speak for the summer cause I missed it).

I have tried water wetter and engine ice. And have come to the conclusion that both are excellent products. If you live in a place where you don't worry about freezing temps then water wetter, but with that said even if you don't freeze engine ice is a great as well of course it is better for lower temps because it wont freeze up to I believe -27 or so. I have tested both and came down with these numbers on my 02 R1..... Water wetter dropped me a consistent 7-10 degrees. As where engine Ice dropped me 6-8 degrees as you can see we are only talking a few degrees between the two! I just use Engine Ice just in case it ever does decide to freeze why worry about my lines freezing up for just 1-2 degrees difference??

I've been eyeing that stuff off as I really want top quality red coolant to match my bike (OCD I know :shake)

I can get it on eBay but I'm interested in a price if you can ship to Australia.
