I have a 2001 blue R1 with about 10,000 miles on it...and I love it! I'm going to get an undertail kit but I have no idea which one to go with. I've heard some say the Dussault is really nice but I want to hear from some of you out there who can hopefully steer me in the right direction. Any help or opinions would be greatly appreciated...thanks.

The dusault tail is very nice, I happen to have a Eurotail. I absolutely regret putting it on, it looks great but the tail section sags about 1/4 inch, your trunk is gone, and the tail is not as stable.

If you are definitely going to go through with it, I will trade you the undertail and modified fender and taillight from my 2000 for for your stock fender and tail light/blinker assembly.

My eurotail is painted flat black to match the tail section and lowers on my bike.

if interested e-mail me at rvajda@netzero.net

Good luck
Rob

Eurotail Undertail

I also bought the Eurotail, and will say after it was installed I was very happy. However the time prior to completing the installation I was wondering if I made a huge mistake!

First of all, taking a sawzall or dremel to a brand new 10,000 dollar motorcycle was a bit difficult, and the projected two to three hour job to install was bullshit.

The directions were pretty poor. However if you are mechanically inclined and remember to be patient and take your time, study all the directions before cutting anything, you will most likely be pleased with the end result.

I had the same sagging problem that cyclepsycho had. I took the advice from Dussalts undertail installation web page and installed two all thread rods with plastic protectors on each side of the undertail through the holes in the tail light support (see the picture that bluer101 submitted above). That took care of the 1/4" gap between the passenger seat and cowl and also stabilized the rear cowl tremendously.

It does rob the trunk space though, I can still carry the tool kit, a wallet, cell phone and a light pair of gloves in it though.

i too have a euro undertail and i must say instructions leave something to be desired. It took me about 2 1/2 hrs to install and i made some custom support so i did not have the sagging problem and the tail is very stable.

overall i'd say install poor quality and apearance though I am very pleased and looks killer. :thumbup

Dussault

Gravity7,
Definately recomend the Dussault! It is in the long run personal preference to suit your taste but, I think the Dussault tail is the sexiest! Also it does not rob as much trunk space as do the other euro-tails do. Just check out Maxxym's thread above this one, he has a pic and you can compare it to the one bluer101 posted here. Well good luck with whatever you decide. Later...

Dussault

without hesitation I'd say Dussault for sure. I had it since last year and I still get alot of compliments on it from rider's as well as ordinary folk off the street. I think the pre-02 Yammi's should have come stock with one. The fit & finish is perfect, just be careful, once you get on his website you want to buy everything.:thumbup

Dussault, BAM!!

dussault's stuff from http://www.graphicartmotodesign.com is sweet. The eurotail's aren't bad and I've helped some Honda owners install them, if dussault made honda kits believe me these guys would have had 'em, guess we're just lucky... Do yourself a favor and get the flux led signals w/ the tail, and if you're really rich get the diamond lights, unreal brightness and very nice looking, I'm waiting on those;)

What about Texas Fairings?

Thanks a lot to all of you who replied...it's nice to hear that you all like your Dussaults...

Would you recommend the Dussault undertail over the Texas Fairings undertail?

These are the only two I think I would consider and after reading your replies I'm leaning towards the Dussault.

Anybody have any opionions on the Texas Fairings as opposed to the Dussault...I would love to hear them...thanks.

Thanks for the thread guys... I just ordered the Dussault tail and I'll let you know what I think when I get it... also got the flush-mount front turn signals...

Let us know how the new turn signals in the brake light assembly are.:D They changed then recently, they look nice and have better turn signals.:yesnod

Well after reading the post, i bought one also.... With the diamond lights.... Only problem now is, i didn't realize it was such a pain in the :butt to install the thing.... Look at the directions:

Now that just looks like a pain, and at the end it says:

"you might have to make yourself some attachments for the license plate".......

Does that mean that there are absolutely NO slots for a license plate mount? If not where can i get a setup for one? I am not real good at cutting up my bike so i'm scared to death to do this..... Any help would be appreciated. :D

Just got mine...

:rock Thanks so much to all of you for your opinions...I just received my Dussault undertail and was a little intimidated at first but it installed no problem. I also used threaded rods and rubber caps to stabilize and raise the tail section which worked great.

As far as a license plate bracket....just do whatever looks good. I got a piece of aluminum and screwed it into the lip on the underside of the tail and I drilled holes in that to mount the license plate to.

It looks great....too bad we need those darn license plates though. What a bunch of :bs .

Thanks again to all of you...I couldn't be happier with the end result!:thumbup

Just called...... Black and Red it is. :thumbup

Also, they assured me that all there is to do is the install, and hook up the wires.... The license plate setup is already there. :jump

Can't wait to get this thing and install it! :D

I put my plate under the tail and bent the plate a little!

Just be careful when cutting with a razor blade. When installing my Dussalt tail I was tired and almost finished cutting, I slipped and took off the tip of my ring finger and cut my middle finger in half to the bone!:ugh

Thing that sucked that I could not finish it and ended up in the ER for hours to get sewed up, then could not ride for a month.

So don't do it when your tired.

IMO, the dussault/eurotail's R both excellent products. I have a eurotail/libertek LED's installed on mine and I do not have the SAGGING problem and never did but I installed one of these anyways!!!!!

I think U gotta really cut the stock undertail really precise and sand it down nicely so everything fits perfect 2 avoid that problem. I took my time and the install came out great, took me like a week 2 finish.....

I would not recommend using the 2 bolts on the subframe theory....what if those bolts go through ur tail section man....that would suck...buy the fairing bracket from Libertek, ask 4 Dom, tell'em Ruben from NYC sent ya.....Dunno if they make the fairing bracket 4 the 00'01's though?????

Ohhh and BTW, the reason U have no trunk space is becuz ur using the bulky stock brake lights.....get the led's and ur trunk space will be more than when u had it stock!!!!!!:fact
