this could be many things,

Well the kickstand was not down . But is there a switch that could be causing this? where would it be located

 

yes i understand the kick stand was not down, there is a safety switch that will shut off the bike if the kick stand is down and they sometimes fail

it would be by the kick stand , get a service manual, this was a simple solution , not trying to be rude but if this was above your head, you should take it to someone

 

Check the resistance on the kickstand switch with it in the up position. Should be less than one Ohm. It could also be your main switch(ignition). Your ignition switch has two circuits on it. One for main power and one goes through your starting circuit cut off relay to your ECU. Unplug your ignition and Ohm out both circuits. Main power is red and brown/blue. ECU is blue/yellow and blue/black. You have to do it with the key turned on and should have less than one ohm on both. Turn the key off and back on and check again. Do this several times as the readings can be random when they start to go bad.

You could also do the wiggle test on the key and see if it shuts down.

Might be a shot in the dark, but i've had the same issue while driving once, bike would just cut out and die in the middle of corners nearly crashing me.
Drove home, and noticed the negative battery cable screw was loose causing it disconnect every now and then.

 

Many issues can cause this symptom. For me, the wiring inside the ignition cylinder (as in, where you put your key) was faulty. In that situation, my bike would throw a code (the wrong code, but a code nonetheless).

 

could also be a bad crank position sensor. I had that problem with my 2006 R1

 

I read somewhere, bad wiring behind the front fairing, if you take the windshield out and look down with a torch, check for wires running through a bracket haven't stripped and are shorting out, at the worst time, mid corner. I checked mine to be safe, and wrapped extra tape around them..

 

If the shop told you that the fuel pump was NOT pumping out at enough PSI, then that’s your problem.

The bike will run but will randomly shut of if the fuel pressure is not right.

Ask them if they pressure tested the fuel pump.

The fuel pump could have everything to do with it.
