Why take out the mirrors?

i'm just wondering why many riders remove the mirrors. it looks better without the mirrors but how can you see if there's a cop from behind or any danger coming from behind. i guess some people prefer sexiness over safety. i'm planing on removing mine too but i don't know how i'll be able to ride without them.

just a thought..

yea i love the look without mirrors too, but i use mine to much on the streets. I took them off for like a month or two on my old bike and did fine without, but endup putting them back, because, i was constal turning my head to look back.

but like tomv12 said, when riding in a group and your leading its so easy with mirrors.

Like mentioned for each their own but I like to think better safe then sorry. They are there for a reason and it only takes a sec. to lower your elbow and glance into the mirror. I also do the double take over the shoulder especially when merging because the mirrors do not give the full view. I will admit it does make the bike look alot cleaner but I just don't feel comfortable without them.

I had issues with the stock mirrors with seeing around my elbows, I kicked around bar end mirrors but I always split lanes in the summer approaching the bridges (live on Cape Cod) and this would not be the hot setup. So I got a set of these in black-> http://www.pjsparts.com/catalog/pro...ct_info.php?cPath=59_52&products_id=182&osCsid=2c80fb6b8aedf4005aa99a9df0d55f0c better view, zero blur and drop dead sexy, not to mention the blue tinted glass goes well with my blue bike. Did I mention they are a work of art.....

My mirrors saved me--I saw an old grandma coming up way too fast behind me at a red, so I split the lane between the two cars in front of me. My mirrors stay. I wouldn't mind one of those cameras and a screen on the dash for even just a little bit more visibility.

I didnt like the stock. Looked bug like. I find these new mirrors nicer on my eyes, actually have better viewing, and are safer, but virtue of two more blinkers for shitheads to take notice of yours truly.

I think MV Agusta did a decent job on OE mirrors. :)

Here's a semi-frontal and rear facing shot.

I really was happy to see how well easy they mounted and wired up.

Believe me...you'll get used to it. I can almost guarantee that I probably have more traffic to contend with than anyone else in this thread as I ride in the DC area all the time....and it sucks!! The only time I kind of miss them is when I'm sitting at a stoplight, or coming up to a stoplight, and have to slow down suddenly. You never know if the person behind you is going to try and stop as well, or speed up. I just usually look back real quick, just to make sure.
