I have a 1999 R1. Love the bike. Probably the most fun bike I have ever owned. It has a had a full rebuild and is super strong.
Anyways,, Friday night, I cranked it up to get her warm. Cranked fine. Idled for about 8 minutes and sputtered out. I thought I had ran It out of fuel but the fuel light never came on. I put gas in it and proceeded to try again on Sunday. Nothing. Couldn't get it to fire up. Couldn't smell fuel. I tried so much that I fried the starter relay.
Last night, I raised the tank. The petcock looks fine. Fuel was coming out of it fine. There is no fuel getting beyond the pump. Do these pumps go out often? Has anyone else had this problem? If it just died, would the relay be bad? I am kind of stumped and don't want to go buying parts if they are good. Has anyone ever had problems with the fuel lines, relays or filter? How can I check to see if the pump is okay? Is there something I need to do to prime the motor back up?
