Decat with stock muffler - sound level increase?

Hi

I have a 2018 R1 that I use only for the race track. The tracks on this side of the pond typically have pretty strict noise limits.
I would like to do a decat and ECU flash, but I'm worried how much the cat removal will affect the noise level of my bike. I have an option of going for a decat solution that has a "pre-muffler" instead of the cat, but weight wise I prefer a straight pipe.
So back to my question: Does anyone know how much the sound level will increase if I just remove the cat and keep the stock muffler?

Regards Henrik

I was running an MJS decat midpipe with my stock muffler shortly after I got my 2016 60th Anniversary. Needless to say, the tinny racket it kicked out made me shop for a proper aftermarket 3/4 system right quick (I wound up with a Graves EVR). Does it sound like any other decat? Mmmm, not really. Is loud?

HELL YES.

I added an ackra slip on to my 2016 R1M, I wanted to add the link pipe thus removing the cat. My dealer had one in where that modification had been made... he started it up for me and hell it was loud.

My 14b decatted and de-baffled made 100 dB which was ok for a quiet track day in the UK...

The decatted M was offensively loud, there is no way it would get on track plus it would attract the notice of the police when riding on the road.... I decided against that modification.

There are some cans with link pipes that you can get that are much quieter. Do a search on here and perhaps on the UK forum (kevap ... am I ok to say that?)

Thank you for your answers. I got this from the dealer:
Decat with a pre-muffler instead of the cat and stock silencer: 106 dB
Decat with a straight pipe and stock silencer: +114dB

However I don't know what the corresponding numbers are for the standard setup.

I don't want to struggle with noise restrictions on track, so maybe I will keep it standard for now, and search for an alternative.

Is ECU flashing relevant with stock exhaust or a waste of money?

The bike the dealer had was ackra slip on, like mine, decat and straight pipe, it was over 110 dB

Mine just has the ackra on and I have kept the cat in place, it makes 96 dB. I haven’t had it flashed nor fitted a power commander... for me, the bike is fine as she is, however, I’m not the most committed rider, and I haven’t taken this bike on track... if I did (my previous track bikes had PC V and custom maps) I may be wanting to go down that route

Here’s mine with the ackra

I'm not really looking for a lot more power. It has enough power IMO (other limitations apply cough cough :)), but I wouldn't mind some of the benefits of ECU flashing such as better throttle control and removal of some restrictions. I was inspired by this article Upgrade Path - Top 10 Best Modifications and Performance Parts for the 2015-18 Yamaha YZF-R1 - Part One
My reason for looking at a decat solution is because I want to mount a closed race fairing, which might not be optimal with the cat in place, not getting the same amount of air cooling.

I understand about you wanting to smooth out the throttle, mine, to be fair, is ok, I’ve had snatchier throttles on my 14b and 14be. I have found the throttle more snatchy when I’m not in the grove, when I’m relaxed, with a relaxed grip it’s ok.

Regarding the cat, I know what you mean, it’s a really big lump of metal and it does get hot and yes it would’ve in the way with what you are doing with your fairings.

I know some guys in the UK have removed the cat and added a link pipe and can without it being offensively loud... I’ll dig out what they did.
